Nkechi Nwosu is a corporate lawyer, general counsel and company secretariat expert, with over 30 years experience in the banking and financial services sector. She is an accomplished senior executive with over 32 years of consistent achievement while serving as an instrumental member and advisor to executive management in implementing strategic business growth initiatives, building strong board relations spanning Anglophone and Francophone countries and the UK. In this capacity she has been able to create powerful internal and external alliances while overseeing all aspects of corporate governance and the corporate legal function.
She was the General Counsel/Corporate Secretary of Diamond Bank Plc where she provided internal functional legal expertise and participated in various capital raising activities. She also had oversight responsibility for the Bank’s legal and Company Secretariat functions of the Bank’s subsidiaries including those of its Insurance subsidiary ADIC Insurance.
Nkechi has a wealth of Board experience from the perspective of the Board Secretary and from serving on Boards. These include Diamond Bank SA, where she chaired the Board Governance and Personnel Committee and as a non-executive director Diamond Securities Limited, and Arrive Alive as an alternate director on Arrive Alive an NGO set up by Chevron and a few Nigerian Banks to prevent road accidents.
She is passionate about Corporate Governance and was instrumental in producing a best in class corporate governance manual which became a reference point in the industry.
Nkechi is also an experienced Administrator having supervised at various times the Bank’s Administration as well as Corporate Communications Departments. She supervised the Banks aggressive Branch Development and launched Diamond Bank’s new brand identity in 2005 and brand refresh in 2012 in conjunction with foreign and local brand consultants.
She acts as a mentor to women on the WIMBIZ (Women in Business) platform to prepare them to take up directorship roles. She is a pioneer trustee of the Association of Bank Legal Advisers and Company Secretaries Board of Trustees.
Nkechi is a law graduate of the University of Southampton and has been called to the English and Nigerian Bar. She is a member of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple.
